Lot Essay

The rare suite by François Linke is in the Empire revival style. Compare a similar gueridon, Index Number 1034, with the same winged griffon mounts heading the legs, supplied to Antoinio Devoto circa 1910 (see C. Payne, François Linke, 1855-1946 - The Belle Epoque of French Furniture, Woodbridge, 2003, p. 256, pl. 272).
