Lot Essay

These candelabra combine blanc de chine porcelain with exquisite ormolu-mounts by Henry Dasson and are typical of objets retailed by the magasins de L'Escalier de Cristal. Compare a timepiece with turquoise Kangxi porcelain Buddhistic lion signed by Escalier de Cristal, sold 'Parisian Taste in London: A Private Collection', Christie's, London, 10 September 2009, lot 369 (£4,000).
