A FRENCH ORMOLU-MOUNTED SEVRES-STYLE COBALT BLUE GROUND 'JEWELLED' PORCELAIN THREE-PIECE CLOCK GARNITURE
LATE 19TH CENTURY
Comprising a mantel clock and a pair of baluster vases and covers; CASE: surmounted by a flower-wreathed lidded vase, the neck with a portrait of Louis XVI, centred by an enamel dial with Roman and Arabic chapters and pierced gilt hands, the socle flanked by classical seated figures, the socle with a plaque painted with interlaced L's, the frieze centred by a plaque with a portrait of Louis XVII flanked by putto, three portrait roundels to each side MOVEMENT: twin barrels, with Brocot suspension and countwheel strike on bell, stamped 'RIGLET A PARIS'; the vases en suite, each domed lid with an acanthus-bud finial, the waisted neck with a portrait of Marie Antoinette flanked by seated ormolu putti holding fruiting garlands, the reverse with interlaced L's, the bodies fronted by 'jewelled' reserves painted with portraits of Louis XVII and Marie Thérèse, above a spreading fluted socle, the eared base relief cast with putto, on toupie feet
