Lot Essay

Also known as 'The Breakfast Party' the present painting depicts a young Highlander feeding his dogs one by one. The original painting was commissioned in 1831 by Lord Dover, and was exhibited as Too Hot at the British Institution in 1831. It is now in a private collection.

We are grateful to Richard Ormond for his help in preparing this catalogue entry.
