A native of Xinhui, Guandong province. Guohua painter, he studied and later taught Guohua in Guangzhou. He then traveled in Southeast Asia, Japan, the Philippines, and North America. In 1947, he joined the Painting Academy. From 1961 he was a member of Wenhuaguan (Palace of Culture). He is noted for his bird and flower paintings, stylistically related to the Lingnan school
