Lot Essay

Prince Louis Charles de Bourbon (1751-1761) and Princess Marie Zépherine de Bourbon (1750-1755) were the children of Louis, Dauphin of France and Maria Josepha of Saxony. Sadly, both children died young. The models for these busts - likely commissioned in their memory - enjoyed considerable popularity and were reproduced into the early 20th century.
