A bronze figure of Maitreya
Tibet, 15th century
Seated in dhyanasana on a double-lotus base with his hands in dharmachakramudra, clad in a billowing dhoti incised with a foliate pattern and adorned with streaming sashes, with lotuses blossoming at the shoulders supporting a trident and the water pot, the face with elongated eyes centered by an urna inset with a hardstone and the hair arranged in a chignon and topped with a stupa, surmounted by a foliate tiara, the base sealed
