Lot Essay

A cabinetmaker by the name of James Bush ran a furniture store at 17 Harrison Street in Baltimore variously between 1819 and 1833. With its signature, JW Bush, this table may have been made earlier in Bush's shop or possibly by a relative of James' working in the same trade (Gregory R. Weidman, Furniture in Maryland, 1740-1940 (Baltimore, 1984), p. 272).
