The terminal formed as a gold cypher of Alexander III against a silver and gold anchor, to a silver crown surmount with old brilliant and rose-cut diamond detail, circa 1890, 9.2cm long

Tie-pins decorated with the cypher or monogram of Their Imperial Majesties were presented during the reign of Emperor Alexander III to individuals of varying ranks, usually in conjunction with Imperial visits throughout the empire and abroad (U. Tillander-Godenhielm, The Russian Imperial Award System during the Reign of Nicolas II, 1894-1917, Helsinki, 2005, p. 207).
