Please note that this work was made in order to support the endeavor of creating Kitchen, 1991-96, a work that resides in the permanent collection of the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York. In this sense, the artist believes Cup and Saucer is to be understood within the context of Kitchen as a greater whole.
