A LONGQUAN CELADON CARVED JAR AND COVER
NORTHERN SONG DYNASTY (960-1127)
The jar has an ovoid body carved and combed with a band of overlapping upright petals below a register of foliate scroll. The slightly flared, cylindrical neck rises to a galleried mouth rim. The domed cover is surmounted by a flanged ring below a stepped finial. The jar and cover are covered with a crackled translucent glaze of slightly greyish olive-green color.
