A GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF A SEATED BODHISATTVA
18TH CENTURY
The bodhisattva is shown seated in lalitasana on a lotus base with the right foot resting on a lotus support. The hands are held in vitarkamudra, with one hand holding the end of the lotus stem. The slender figure is arrayed in beaded jewelry, with large pendent earrings and a foliate crown. The hair is pulled up into a tall coiffure and also falls elegantly onto the shoulders.
