Lot Essay

Frida Allenbach-Meier's poster for an art exhibition embodies the purity and functionality of the Jan Tschichold's New Typography in its form and content. There is a rejection of needless ornament - only a pinstripe background adorns the poster behind a large asymmetrical image of a lamp comprised of simplistic geometric shapes. The sense of 'pure design' is conveyed in this piece - a reflection of the new industries and urban technologies of the current age.
