SAFAVID IRAN, 16TH CENTURY
Comprising the diwans of Fada'i (?), of Jami, of Katibi, Ahli Shirazi, of Lisani, Persian manuscript on gold-speckled paper, ..ff. plus two fly-leaves, each folio with 17ll. of elegant black nasta'liq script, text arranged in two columns with horizontal cartouches framed by gold and polychrome illuminated panels, with six very finely illuminated headpieces, some page with text in clouds on gold illuminated ground, text within gold and polychrome rules, in 16th century lacquer binding with figural decoration, with fine gilt and polychrome découpé doublures, incomplete at end and beginning, occasional marginal repairs otherwise very clean throughout
