MUGHAL INDIA AND IRAN, 18TH AND 19TH CENTURY
Comprising a Mughal hand-shaped mace with silver-overlaid decoration; a gold-damascened openwork crescent-bladed axe, the blade with gold-damascened peacocks flanking a foliate garland; two gold-damascened axes, one with silver-repoussé mounts, the hammer inscribed Nasr min Allah wa fath qarib (help from God and victory near at hand), the other with heavy blade decorated with silver plated engraved scrolling tendrils arranged around a floral motif, the hammer inscribed 'Ali 572 in naskh script; a pick-axe (ankus) with single-fuller blade engraved with palmettes, the wooden stave rising from an ivory finial ; and a Qajar ceremonial steel axe inscribed and dated AH 1214, the crescent blade fashioned from the hollow plain stave
