Possibly part of a pedestal or stupa base, depicting two kneeling figures of Atlases, bare chested and wearing a loin cloth, the left hand on the knee, the other raised as if supporting a load

Lot Essay

Although more defined and corpulent the British Museum holds a comparable grey schist figure of Atlas (OA 1880-182).
