Lot Essay

Although an attribution for this work has yet to be established, this panel can be placed in the Brussels School. The treatment of the folds of the drapery in particular shows stylistic affinities with works by Jan van Coninxloo and Bernard van Orley.

We are grateful to Peter van den Brink for his thoughts on this panel.
