Lot Essay

This painting relates closely to a picture in the Musée Fesch, Ajaccio (A. Bréjon, Répertoire des peintures italiennes du XVIIe siècle, Paris, 1988, p. 164, illustrated), which has been attributed to Gherardini by Longhi and confirmed by Volpe.
