Embossed Atlas. London: A.N. Myers & Co. [c.1880]. Boxed set of seven embossed maps with raised profiles, each 268 x 220mm, mounted with protective frames, with six (of seven) hand-coloured printed versions of the maps, these loose in plain pink wrappers. (One map very lightly dust soiled.) In original publisher's cloth drop-back box, the interior of the lid with printed title and hand-coloured key, the outer lid with elaborate allegorical title (box with one corner split, otherwise fine).
A remarkable three-dimensional teaching tool, comprising maps in relief of Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Australasia and Polynesia, and a twin-spherical map 'illustrating the chief divisions of Land and Water in both Hemispheres', which includes an imaginary map to show geographical features, identified as an 'Ideal Picture of the Physical Geography of the World'.
