Lot Essay

With IWC Certificate in German entitled Die Besitzurkunde zur Novecento mit ewigem Kalendar und Mondphasenanzeige von IWC (Owner's Certificate for the Novecento with perpetual calendar and moon phases by IWC) dated December 1990, blank IWC combined International Guarantee and Certificate of Origin, Novecento operating instructions booklet, IWC servicing report dated 26 August 2005 and fitted veneered presentation box.

According to the Archives of IWC Schaffhausen, the present watch was delivered to Germany in 1990 as a reference 3545. During a routine servicing, as can occasionally be the case, the movement was upgraded from a calibre 32061 to the present calibre 96061 and the back of the watch was exchanged for that of a later model reference 3546. Hence, the number 3546 stamped on the inside of the case back of this watch.

The Novecento model is illustrated in Ore d'Oro 2 by Jader Barracca, Giampiero Negretti, Franco Nencini, p. 210.
