Two miniatures depicting King Charles I (1600-1649) and Queen Henrietta Maria (1609-1669); he in striped doublet and ruff, wearing the sash of the Order of the Garter, she in blue décolleté dress with white lace collar, pearl necklace and drop-pearl earring
oil on copper
ovals, 4.1/8 in. (104 mm.) high, in Charles II carved limewood frames, the king's with the Royal Crown supported by cherubs and the royal supporters below, the Queen's with amorini amid densely scrolling acanthus
