A CELADON AND RUSSET JADE BELT HOOK AND A RUSSET JADE CARVING OF A CRAB MOUNTED AS A BROOCH
18TH/ 19TH CENTURY
The belt hook is carved with a horned beast terminal with its shaft shaped as an openworked sinuous chilong. The stone is of a celadon tone with russet inclusions. The crab is of a reddish russet tone with paler inclusions, has inlaid green beads for eyes and is mounted on a gilt brooch.
The belt hook 3¾ in. (9.5 cm.) wide; the carving of the crab 2.3/8 in. (6 cm.) wide
