FIRST EDITION (another appeared a year or two later with differences in the preliminaries) of this instructive work which describes every important ceremony to be observed in the Catholic Church, from the election of a pope or emperor to the canonisation of a saint, the various itineraries of a pope, everything which pertains to councils, bulls, vestments, genuflexion, when to read the Gospel in Greek, and all the major feast days in the year. The woodcuts illustrate the pope 'in cathedra', the pope, assisted by thirteen prelates and monks, preaching at a pulpit, and the pope celebrating mass. Adams C-977; Sander 5662.
