Lot Essay

See E. Köllmann & M. Jarchow, Berliner Porzellan, München, 1987, Vol. II, p. 143, Tafel 290-291 (291a,b and d).

The present models were designed by Paul Scheurich as part of a large table garniture. Amid the Second World War, Scheurich chose to celebrate the theme 'Geburt der Schönheit', The Birth of Beauty. The central piece was a figure group depicting Venus Anadyomene surrounded by groups of Nereids, Tritons and sea creatures.
