AN EGYPTIAN GILT CARTONNAGE MUMMY MASK
LATE PTOLEMAIC PERIOD TO EARLY ROMAN PERIOD, CIRCA 50 B.C.-50 A.D.
Brightly painted in polychromy, the face gilt with blue brows and cosmetic lines and large black pupils, wearing a blue tripartite echeloned wig, with blue fringe framing the face along the forehead, the ears prominent, the lappets banded above the lower edge, secured with a diadem fronted by a central raised gilt wedjat-eye and six bosses, looped and knotted in the back with descending ties, the multi-strand beaded broad collar visible between the lappets
