Chancery 4° (168 x 120mm). Collation: a-l8<\sup> m6<\sup>. 94 leaves. 27 lines. Type: 4:116Gb<\sup>. Printed in red and black, woodcut ornamental initial, lombard initials. (A few tiny repairs.) Early vellum over thin wooden boards, covers with gilt initials "G.P.M.", edges line-gauffered (bowed, front joint cracked, gilt worn). Provenance: early annotations -- Ingeniere G. Carones (ownership inscription) -- a bifolium containing a late 18th-century ms. summary inserted at front.
FIRST EDITION IN ITALIAN of the Ambrosian Liturgy and Rite of the Church of Milan, following the first Latin edition of c. 1477. Rare: no copy of either incunable edition has been sold at auction in over 30 years; no copy in the Bavarian State Library and only one copy in the USA (Newberry).
