A 'SCROLLING CLOUDS' DUAN INKSTONE
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
Of irregular oval form, the inkstone is carved with a slightly slanting grinding surface and troughed inkwell surrounded by relief carving of scrolling clouds. The stone is of dark purplish-brown colour highlighted by five pistachio-green 'eyes', four of which are scattered across the top amidst the clouds, while one stands alone on the griding surface.
