A YELLOW JADE CARVING OF AN AXE
QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
The stone is carved in the form of an axe, each side in low relief with a band of archaistic dragons above a taotie mask, surmounted by a crouching qilin. The stone is of an even pale yellowish tone with concentrated areas of russet 'skin'.
