A George III swing-handled cake basket
of shaped oval form, the foot and body both chased and applied with beading and pierced with slats and roundels, the body also cased with drapery swags with tassels, vases and paterae and engraved with an armorial with tied foliate boughs beneath and a bow above, the beaded handle with vacant cartouche, probably Aldridge & Green, London 1774, the marks partially-obliterated by the piercing - 14¾in. (37.50cm.), 37oz.
Further details
According to a hand-written note this piece was bought from the Earl of Woolton and had been given to him as a wedding present by a member of the family.
