MARK OF C. ROELL AND A "13" STANDARD MARK, PROBABLY GERMAN, 3RD QUARTER OF 19TH CENTURY, ALSO BEARING LATER FRENCH CONTROL MARK
Escutcheon form, the top with flowers above an applied coronet, centre applied with a menorah above the twin tablets of the Ten Commandments on a diaperwork-engraved arched recess in turn above a rectangular aperture displaying the name of the relevant festival, a box behind the aperture containing four interchangeable panels with Hebrew inscriptions on both sides, below this a foliate scroll centred by a lion's mask with vacant oval cartouche below, all flanked by columns surmounted by rampant lions, three bells dependent from base, chain attachment
