Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1959 and its subsequent sale on October 22nd of the same year.

To the best of our knowledge this watch has never before been offered in public.

Reference 2481 was launched in 1950 and was one of the largest wristwatches ever made by Patek Philippe. The model was fitted either with the standard silvered dial, but was also available with the cloisonné enamel version, depicting either landscapes, continents or portraits of famous personalities. Different examples are illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by M. Huber & A. Banbery, second edition, pp. 205, 207-211.
