Decorated in gold, silver and red takamaki-e, iroe-togidashi-e and nashiji on a black roiro-nuri ground with an egret beside irises and a stream, red lacquer interiors, fundame rims

According to a previous 19th century sale entry, this inro was made for Shogun Tokugawa and presented by him to Toda, a daimyo of Mino province.
