Lot Essay

This pair of Capitoline lions relate to those by Francois Nicholas Delaistre (1746 - 1832) as models for the two lifesize lions currently at the Bibliothek, Bescançon.

The Bescançon lions were supplied by the Architect Pierre Adrien Paris for the feet of the staircase of the House of the Duchess of Bourbon in the Champs Elyseés.
