Part 1 with letterpress title page, Introductory Remarks and Brief Historical Sketch of the Invention of the Art, five calotypes (faded), 4 15/16 x 5 15/16 in. to 6¼ x 8 3/8 in. each mounted on card within ink-ruled border, plate number inscribed in ink lower right corner, each with descriptive letterpress, paper guards, an additional print apparently of the cloisters at Lacock attached between two sheets of text, original paper wrappers (disbound, stained), numbered 1 in ink on front cover, 4to.; Part 5 with Notice to the Reader loosely inserted, three calotypes (faded), 6½ x 7 7/8 in. to 6 5/16 x 8½ in., card mounts (plate 19 detached from mount), each with ink-ruled border, plate number inscribed in ink lower right corner, each with descriptive letterpress, paper guards, original paper wrappers (disbound), numbered 5 in ink on front cover, 4to.; with six calotypes, five untrimmed, each approx. 7¼ x 9 in. and one 6 5/8 x 8¼ in., mounted on similar card within ink-ruled border. Lot Essay

The additional calotypes comprise loose prints of "Articles of Glass" (plate IV) (2), "Articles of China" (plate III), "Lacock Abbey in Wiltshire" (plate XV), "The Haystack" (plate X) and a mounted print of "The Fruitpickers".
