Lot Essay

Jönköping introduced it's first date letter cycle in 1689, making incuse "E" 1693. However one would also expect a maker's mark at this date whereas prior to 1689 one would encounter a town mark and maker's mark only so perhaps the incuse "E" is a maker's mark? A Per Eriksson is noted working from the mid 1650s through the 1660s and later.
