AN UNUSUAL GILT-SILVER-MOUNTED WHITE JADEITE FAN-SHAPED HAND MIRROR
THE MOUNT STAMPED, YAMANAKA
The back of the mirror is carved in relief with a phoenix perched on a rocky outcrop amidst blossoming peony branches. The handle is flanked at the top by spandrels carved in openwork as archaistic dragons. The jadeite is translucent and of white tone with some areas of faint russet color. There is a gilt-silver mount around the outer edge of the mirror and on the end of the handle, which is inset with an oval, emerald-green jadeite cabochon. The gilt-silver mount signed YAMANAKA, and stamped STERLING 05419/3.

Accompanied by report Nos. 1152731876 (17 October 2013) and 5151912370 (04 February 2014) from the GIA, Gemological Institute of America, stating that the white jadeite handle and mirror back and the green jadeite cabochon are of natural color and show no indications of impregnation.
