AN UNUSUAL AGATE FIGURE OF A BUDDHIST LION
17TH/18TH CENTURY
The recumbent adult lion, with curly main and brows, and an upswept tail, is shown with head turned to the side as it grasps in its jaws the ribbon tied to the brocade ball held between its front paws. The semi-translucent stone is of pale greyish blue- green color.
