The design of this carpet is a direct copy of an early sixteenth century Tabriz carpet in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, (M.S.Dimand & Jean Mailey; Oriental Rugs in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, 1973, fig. 67, p.134).
