Written for himself, comprising the third book of Avicenna's famous work on medicine, Arabic manuscript on paper, 99ff. as numbered plus one fly-leaf, each folio with 19ll. of sepia naskh, important words and phrases in red naskh, some words in larger black naskh, some possibly contemporary marginal notes in Hebrew and Arabic, the colophon signed Musa bin Efrayim bin Dawud bin Efrayim bin Ya'qub al-ma'ruf bi Ibn Jumay' al-Isra'ili and indicating that the manuscript was copied in the Bimaristan al-Salahi in Cairo, gutter reinforced, some repairs, otherwise clean, in restored Mamluk gilt and stamped brown morocco binding

The third book of the celebrated Canon of Avicenna deals with general ailments and pathology. The four other books composing the Canon deal with general anatomy and health (Book I, al-Kulliyat), medicines (Book II), symptoms and diagnostics (Book IV) and pharmacopoeia (Book V, Aqrabadin).
