Engraved map of North America on 4 sheets joined as 2, some outline coloring, image 928 x 873 mm (1092 x 1130 mm sheet). Elaborate cartouche. (Some minor staining and a few short marginal tears.)

D'Anville's large and important map. "To illustrate the [North American] cartography of the second half of the eighteenth century, a d'Anville map is essential. He dominated not only French but all contemporary geographers. His representation of the Great Lakes is superior to that of his contemporary John Mitchell" (Tooley).
