Lot Essay
The author Mirza 'Abd al-Wahhab Mu'tamid al-Dawla, whose pen name was Nishat, was poet and secretary to Fath 'Ali Shah. He was born in AH 1175 to a noble family in Isfahan and moved to Tehran to join the court of Fath 'Ali Shah, who made him minister of Foreign Affairs with the title Mu'tamid al-Dawla (Mo'tamed ol-Dauleh). He was an accomplished calligrapher and poet, also the tutor to one of the Shah's favourite wives, Tavus Khanum Taj al-Saltanah. The Ganjineh was his most copied work. He died in AH 1244.
