The first of red leather, of rectangular form, with cusped flap front, the silver embroidered decoration with palmettes and foliated tendrils to the front and flap, embroidered Constantinople 1772 with foliated borders to the reverse, the flap opening to reveal a compartmented interior and the name of the previous owner, Surian ; the second of brown leather, of squat truncated drop-shape form, with flap front, embroidered with elegant acanthus tendrils rising from a quatrefoil and a palmette
