A special print by Ponting, smaller than the 'C' (23in. width) standard print of this subject offered at the Fine Art Society selling exhibition. The subject was described in the exhibition catalogue: '46. Captain Scott writing in his Diary. A portrait of the leader in the hut at Cape Evans. It was made three weeks before he left for the Great Ice Barrier, on the final stage of the search for the Pole. It shows the entire space retained by Captain Scott in the hut.'
