A GILT METAL AND CHAMPLEVÉ ENAMEL SNUFF BOTTLE
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
The bottle is finely decorated to one side with a blossoming prunus tree. The winding branches are painted in black and the flowering buds delicately inlaid with coloured enamels. The reverse is painted with a two-line poetic inscription.

Lot Essay

The inscription is read as 'zui ai qing ying han shu dian, mo chou lang ji luo cheng dui', which may be translated as 'the flower petals fall gracefully in beautiful disarray'.
