Oval and on four caryatid-capped fluted tapering legs, the body applied with ribbon-tied husk swags and rosettes and with ram's-mask handles, the detachable cover with Vitruvian scrolls between beaded borders and chased swags, the finial cast as a river gods

Lot Essay

This tureen is after a model by Carlo Bartolotti made in Rome circa, 1790. An example is illustrated C. Bulgari, Argentieri Gemmari E Orafi d'Italia, Rome, p. 107, pl. 6 and a pair were sold Christie's, London, 30-31 May 2012, lot 276.
