Lot Essay

A pair of lions of identical form are featured at each end of a settee made for Thomas Hope at Duchess Street and illustrated in 'Thomas Hope, Regency Designer' Watkin and Hewat-Jaboor, 2008, No. 76, p. 392. The design is illustrated in Household Furniture, 1807, pl. VIII.
