A CIRCULAR TORTOISE SHELL BOX AND COVER CARVED WITH THE PORTRAIT OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE

The central recessed roundel is carved in relief with the portrait of William Shakespeare, surrounded by carved and pierced dense foliage. The base has a roundel inscribed 'NATUS STRATFORDIAE IN BRITTANIA. AN. M.D.LXIV. OBIIT AN. M.DC.XVI.', surrounded by trailing foliage.
