A TIBETAN THANGKA DEPICTING THE ARHAT KANAKAVATSA
LATE 18TH CENTURY
The central figure is seated in vajrasana on a lotus base, clad in monk's garb, with a double mandorla behind him. The upper section is painted with a high pontiff flanked by Buddha Shakyamuni and the red Buddha Amitabha and the lower part with Vaishravana flanked by the blue Vajradhara and Manjushri, all in a mountainous landscape.
