A ROMAN BRONZE DANCING LAR
CIRCA 1ST CENTURY A.D.
Depicted standing on his toes with his heels lifted, the left leg advanced, wearing open-toes boots, the laces criss-crossing the front of his feet and tying above the ankles, his short tunic pinned at the shoulders, belted at the waist with the skirt falling to just above the knees and billowing behind, his head tilted slightly to the right, with upswept locks radiating around his long oval face, the almond-shaped eyes deeply set, the left arm raised above his head, holding aloft a rhyton with a goat protome, his right arm lowered, bent at the elbow, with the forearm originally held out before him and likely once holding an attribute
