D.L. Mays After training at the Goldsmiths School of Art in south London, Mays first gained recognition as an illustrator while working on boys' books and magazines. Becoming involved with advertising and further illustrative work, his popularity soared. His Royle cards of carefree and mischevious children playing and having fun are particularly sought after. For many years his name was associated with Punch and from time to time he exhbited at the Royal Academy.
